Cooperation in space tourism

SSC is one of the partners in Spaceport Sweden, a cooperation aiming at establishing Kiruna as a European center for space tourism. Virgin Galactic, the world’s first tourism spaceline, plans to offer flights from, initially, the Mojave desert in California, Spaceport America in New Mexico and from Spaceport Sweden in Kiruna.

Flights from the US are planned to commence in 2010 and from Sweden earliest in 2012.

Spaceport Sweden and Spaceport America have recently agreed to support each other in space tourism and in the stimulation of local development, tourist activities and education.

This winter, Virgin Galactic has invited Scandinavian travel agencies to apply to become one of the company’s exclusive Accredited Space Agencies.
